Long-Distance Love Affair

Ahhhh, Love. What a wonderful feeling to find the furrie that makes your plush heart go “pitter-pat”. You see his floppy ears or her big black eyes, and it makes you swoon! But, alas, it seems to be the nature of the Furrie that we fall for the plushie-love that lives far away. It is not easy to be in a long distance relationship, but if you can't convince your human to move to a different continent, then we have a few tips that can make your long-distance love a little easier.

Keep at the forefront of your love's thoughts- You want to make sure that the object of your affections know that you are thinking of him or her. Sending postcards lets your love know that even when being faced with the wonders of the world, he is still in the forefront of your mind.. Taking a photo can have the same effect. Walter went to the beach when we were a new “couple” and he sent me this photo. It was such a sweet surprise- it still makes my heart melt every time I look at it!

Remind yourself of your long distance love- It is important to keep your own flame burning as well as encouraging that of your long-distance love. I like to keep pictures that remind me of happy couples, including this sweet picture of a Bunny and a Sheep that my Walter sent me. I also like to have my calendar of Rosalie and Truffel- they are a lovely couple- slightly reminiscent of my Walter and me. I display these in my Closet-Office and they give me a little boost every time I go to work at Ida Couture.

Take virtual vacations- Collage photos of the two of you together in romantic places. Photoshop is a big help with this, but not totally necessary. As the two of you talk about the photos and show them to your friends it will seem like you were there. After awhile, when your memory is fuzzy, you will look back at the photos and think you actually went! My Walter and I took the most fabulous tour of Rothernburg ob der Tauber several Christmases ago. When I peruse the photo album I can still taste the Schneeballen pastries, and the picture of our first kiss under the mistletoe still makes me swoon!

Although nothing beats being near the love of your life, we hope that these tips will help ease the pangs of longing caused by a long-distance relationship.
